Vienna and Austria has its very own impressionist tradition that is defined as the realistic atmospheric poetic impressionism of the late nineteenth century.
Important Artists are (to name a few): Emil Jakob Schindler, Olga Wisinger-Florian, Tina Blau, Theodor von Hörmann, Eugen Jettel, Rudolf Ribarz and Marie Egner. In exploring the artwork of the latter, Marie Egner, for many years in order to finish a master thesis at the University of Vienna, I am deeply involved in the Stimmungsimpressionimus field since my research started as early as in 2016 with my very own private Egner artwork catalogue!
Many, many visited archives, auction houses and art fairs later, 2026 is finally the year of submitting my master thesis. At the same time 2026 is also the year to launch my very own webpage and artist path.

It is my mission to contribute to Austria’s contemporary art scene by re-activating the Stimmungsimpressionismus and fill an important cultural and aesthetic gap!
_______________________________________________
I first experienced painting in acrylics in 2002 at the Summer Academy in Zakynthos (Greece) and then created mostly decorative artworks for family and friends.
After two Bachelor degrees (English & American Studies, History of Arts) my experience as an Art Historian has increased my knowledge of artistic compositions and techniques. This led to first solo exhibitions at the local “Großpetersdorf Galerie” in the South of Burgenland starting in 2018 with acrylic artworks of flowers and landscapes.
Wanting to improve, I enrolled in a landscape course at the London Art College (LAC) in 2023 and will finish this course in 2026 under the tutelage of Paul Weaver.
As I started the LAC-course it became evident that I needed oil painting skills. That’s when I attended my first oil lectures at the Viennese “Zeichenfabrik” in 2025, followed by further courses with Canadian Artist Marc Alexandre-Dumoulin in Vienna.
Having had three exhibitions in 2025, my goal is to provide my artworks online, co-operate with online auction houses (Local collaborations available upon request) and paint more than before in plein air.
With that in mind, I hope my artworks display the same joy I experience in and with nature when I paint it.
Heartily,
Sabine Muhr
